在紐約高檔Food Emporium supermarket
第一次看到Saffron就和姐兩人在超市裡尖叫
一個一般香料瓶子裡有數個小到不行的容器
每個容器裝 一點點0.4g的Saffron就要17塊

而且請注意看旁邊橘色的標價
每個Unit Price是2718.40美金

Saffron番紅花可用來當染料&烹調
以前和尚or喇嘛的袍就是用它染色
烹調上常用在西班牙菜裡的什錦飯

今天突然失心瘋翻開的我食材字典
所以根據"大廚食材完全指南"指出:

"番紅花 (Saffron, Crocus sativus)
原產於希臘，乾燥的花蕊柱頭是全世界最昂貴的辛香之一，
芳香、辛辣且苦，可以製出亮黃色染料。
它可為湯、米飯、蛋糕及麵包上色加味，
尤其是法國馬賽的魚羹(bouillabaisse)及西班牙的什錦飯(paella)。
可買到花蕊柱頭或粉末。"

ps.難怪傳說中的馬賽魚湯那麼貴，除了魚之外還有Saffron呀
